Storm Riders is the 1st independent Motorcycling Club to be registered in Singapore. We are a members Club and we organize riding trips for members to Malaysia and Thailand.
The Storm Riders is a motorcycling club formed with the following objectives:
• To promote motorcycle sport, interest, knowledge, safety and adventure.
• To promote the spirit of motorcycle touring to a wide section of the community.
• To create leadership skills, a sense of social responsibility, self-reliance and co-operation among members, and
• To create a spirit of friendship and understanding among members.
Chronology of club events:
Date: 24 Dec 1999 (christmas eve) At a Christmas gathering of some friends at Kevin's house, an idea of forming a bike club was formed. The 2 issues at hand was whether to make it formal or informal, and whether to make it a closed group or open it up.
Date: 2 Jan 2000 (Sunday) our informal group made a recee trip up to Muar for breakfast, then shopping at Tangkat, and ended up to Mount Ophir base. We decided to make Mount Ophir as the 1st official trip of the club.
Date: 7 Jan 2000 (Friday) At our 1st proper meeting at David Ong's house, we voted 11 to 1 to: - make it as a formal group by getting it registered -open up the club to all bikers The tentative name of Storm-Riders was suggested by Alex. The interim committee was thus set-up to look into convening the club, organizing events and get it registered.
Date: 15 Jan 2000 (Saturday) We held our 1st committee meeting to work out many details and tie down some agreements. then we adjourned to Marina Canto Coffee shop for our 1st Saturday night gathering. There was about 20 bikes present.
Date: 22 to 23 Jan 2000 We made our 1st group ride up Muar for breakfast, followed by going into Tangkat to our hotel resort at base of Mount Ophir, Gunung Ledang
Date: 26 January 2000 Performance Motor launched the new BMW R1150GS at Sultan of Swing at 1970 hrs. We supported the event by asking our members to be present.
Date: 29 January 2000 The club had it's second gathering at Marina Canto Coffee shop. It was attended by more than 30 bikes, of all make and cc. Steven Yeo of Harley Davidson, specially brought down a 2000 HD soft tail for our members to test ride.
Date: Feb. 2000 An official application was submitted to the Registrar Of Singapore for the formal registration of the Club.
Date: 12 April 2000 The club received an approval letter from ROS for the registration of the Club, with the ROS given Constitution.
Date: 14 April 2000, 3.02pm Alex went down to make payment at the ROS and so the club was officially registered on 14 April 2000 at 3.02 pm. A mini celebration was held that Saturday night (15 April 2000) for this occasion. Another buffet lunch was held at Novetel Apollo Hotel for the happy occasion.
Date: 15 April 2000 The club held it's first membership signup on 15 April 2000 at Marina South. 31 person signed and paid up officially. The following Saturday, another 19 person signed up at Marina. A few signed up by e-mail.
